Each stock photography web site has their own
minimum resolution requirements for photographers
submitting their photos, and these can change over
time. At the time of writing this the micro stock
photography sites had their minimums in the range of
2 to 4 Megapixels.
The number of megapixels can easily be calculated by multiplying the pixel length of the height and width of the digital photograph.
For example a photo that is 1,600 by 1,200 pixels has a total of:
1,600 x 1,200 = 1,920,000 pixels
or 1.92 megapixels.
Note that this is different to Megabytes. Megabytes refers to the file size, which is the amount of storage space required and will be affected by factors such as colors.
